Nancy P. Hubbard Bio![]() Nancy began a love affair with the Blue Ridge Mountains and the natural world in her childhood when she visited family in Roanoke, Virginia and Waiteville, West Virginia. Growing up in Richmond, Virginia, she found the peace and tranquility furnished by the mountains, forests, creeks, sunsets, and sunrises to be a welcome escape from suburban life. Her young years were filled with rearing five children, acquiring a Bachelor of Science in Nursing degree, and pursuing a career in the Nursing field. This left little time for her love of nature. The young ones reared and launched, her new love affair became her camera and travels to mountainous regions of North Carolina and Virginia. It was not long before she was sharing photographs with colleagues and patients. The serenity she experienced in her visits seemed to transmit to all who viewed the pictures. In retirement from her Nursing career, Nancy has the time and opportunity to follow her dream of sharing these experiences with a wider group of people. Attendance at workshops, intensive self study, and several seminars have given formal structure to Nancy’s love of photography in an attempt to be current in her chosen field. Her natural inquisitiveness leads to exploring books, websites, and photography groups to further expand her offerings. She is a professional photographer, licensed in the State of North Carolina. Nancy’s giclees are offered with the hope that they will engage those who purchase them in the experiences she has enjoyed even though they might not have the time to journey to the sites themselves. Her work can be viewed at the Alleghany Arts and Crafts Shop in Sparta, NC, the Main Oak Emporium in Mt. Airy, NC and will soon be available at the Foothills Art Gallery in Elkin, NC. Nancy was the recipient of a third place award in the “Images 2006” juried photographic contest at the Foothills Art Gallery in Elkin, NC in June 2006. Landscape, water, and floral photography are her pursuits at this time, and it is with great concern for the protection of our natural world that she follows the dream of traveling and photographing these sights.
